I have said before how much I love my Book Club and that we take our books very seriously. Well, here is a perfect example. For Susan's choice she picked a book called, "I Remember... A Memoir of Nazi Invasion, Forced Exile and Concentration Camp" by Lorissa Wilfong Holt. Lorissa lives in Emmett, Idaho and just a few years ago published her account of the Holocaust as a young, Ukrainian girl. She now speaks publicly about her book and her desire for all to know the joy of forgiveness. Susan set up a personal meeting with Lorissa at her in-laws home in Emmett, for our book club and others.
My book club (almost) Tiffany Wheeler could not be here this night, but instead Tiffanie Winward joined us. We always love having her as a special guest :)L-R: Cyrina Jones, Tiffanie Winward, Jody Richeal, me, Susan Walker and Ami Peterson.
This is the group who all met to hear this marvelous woman speak. Lorissa is in the middle.
Thak you to Don and Renee Walker for opening their home and hearts to us.
Susan and Lorissa, and they didn't even plan their outfits!
I have always had a great love for memoirs of the Holocaust. I have felt compelled to read them and am forever changed by each and every one I have read. I have seen Elie Wiesel (author of "Night") and Gerda Weismann Klein (author of "All But My Life") speak -but was not able to talk with them or ask questions. Having the opportunity to be in such a close, personal setting where we were encouraged to ask questions and share any experience was a dream come true. Thank you, Susan, for this wonderful opportunity. And thank you to Lorissa, and countless others, who have shared their stories. I Will Never Forget.
